1,3 Propanediol Functions & Applications

1,3-Propanediol is a water-compatible diol used as a humectant, solvent and skin-feel modifier in personal-care formulations. Its combination of solvent and moisture-related roles makes it relevant to creams, lotions, facial-care products and hair-care systems. Producer formulation literature also describes use in deodorants and wipes. These applications should be evaluated on the actual supplied chemical grade rather than taken as a guarantee of preservation or skin compatibility. This compound is distinct from propylene glycol, which is 1,2-propanediol, despite the similar names. Reveda has not established a fermentation-derived origin or a branded Zemea identity for this liquid. Confirm purity and composition, then check ingredient dissolution, sensory behavior and formulation stability in the intended product.
