Cocodiethanolamide (Cocamide DEA) Functions & Applications

Cocamide DEA is a coconut fatty acid alkanolamide used to modify foam and viscosity in surfactant formulations. A principal development role is to support the foam produced by the main cleansing system while helping build the liquid's body. Foam boosting and stabilization are separate considerations from primary detergency, so the ingredient is normally evaluated in the context of the surrounding surfactants. Commercial DEA amides can differ in fatty acid distribution, free amine and accompanying components. Those details can change how a material should be selected and qualified. For this cocodiethanolamide listing, obtain a composition specification before comparing it with another Cocamide DEA supply. The name alone does not establish a particular producer grade or the viscosity of the finished wash.
