Ethyl Ascorbic Acid Functions & Applications

Ethyl ascorbic acid is an ethylated vitamin C derivative used in skin care formulations aimed at a more even looking complexion. The documented ingredient identity is 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, which should be distinguished from ascorbic acid itself and from other substituted vitamin C ingredients. Producer literature places this derivative in cosmetic brightening and skin tone applications. Choosing it for a serum or another skin care format requires attention to the complete formula and the actual material supplied. Results reported for a producer's tested preparation do not establish the performance of every supply with the same ingredient name. Confirm the substitution identity, assay and formulation guidance before assigning a concentration, stability expectation or finished product benefit to this SKU.
