Ethyl Oleate Functions & Applications

Ethyl oleate is a fatty ester used as an emollient, spreading agent and solvent in cosmetic development. Its role in the oil portion of a formula can help a formulator adjust how the product distributes over skin while providing a medium for compatible ingredients. Producer application information includes skin care, hair care and color cosmetics, where oil phase selection affects both delivery and sensory character. Ethyl oleate should be assessed as an individual ester rather than treated as interchangeable with a vegetable oil or an unspecified fatty acid blend. The appropriate choice depends on the ingredients being dissolved and the desired product format. Check the supplied fatty ester composition and quality documentation before establishing its use in a particular formulation.
