Hydrolized Corn Protien Functions & Applications

Hydrolyzed corn protein is evaluated in hair treatments, shampoos and masks as a protein based conditioning material. Commercial cosmetic examples use corn peptides and amino acids selected for interaction with the hair surface, and also extend to mild cleansing formulas. This is a protein hydrolysate, not corn starch used for absorbency or thickening, and not a cationically modified starch styling polymer. Those differences are important when deciding which function the ingredient should perform. In a shampoo, test its behavior with the surfactant and preservative package; in a mask, assess how the actual peptide mixture changes the finished feel. The catalog entry alone cannot establish a measured restructuring effect, a fixed molecular size or equivalence between liquid and dried preparations.
