L-Aspartic Acid Functions & Applications

L-Aspartic acid is used as an amino acid nutrient in defined laboratory media. A manufacturer documented example is its inclusion in synthetic dropout media for budding yeast, where the amino acid composition is selected to match the experimental design. Qualified grades are also offered for mammalian cell culture formulation. These applications depend on the full nutrient system and do not establish that adding aspartic acid will improve every culture. The free acid differs from sodium or potassium aspartate preparations, so both the counterion and the concentration basis need attention when following a method. Establish identity, impurities and biological suitability for the intended process before qualification. This commercial listing does not identify a certified reference standard or a validated cell culture reagent.
