Lauryl Lactyl Lactate Functions & Applications

Lauryl Lactyl Lactate is an ester based cosmetic ingredient with surfactant and emollient applications. Producer literature describes its use in shampoos, body washes, facial cleansers and cream or lotion systems, where it can contribute to emulsification, foam behavior and formulation texture. Its ester identity matters: it should not be selected simply as a substitute for free lactic acid or assumed to provide the same pH adjusting action. The way it influences a cleansing formula depends on the other surfactants and the supplied commercial composition. Establish that composition before assessing incorporation or viscosity development. Published results for a named lactyl lactate product do not demonstrate a particular hydration benefit, foam increase or processing advantage for this unverified supply.
