Patchouli Oil Functions & Applications

Patchouli oil supplies a woody, earthy note for fragrance construction, with persistent and sometimes camphoraceous or mossy facets. It is useful when a perfume needs the recognizable character of patchouli rather than only a neutral oily carrier. Producer documentation describes oils obtained from dried Pogostemon cablin leaves and also distinguishes grades that have received additional processing. A standard leaf oil, an iron reduced oil and a molecularly processed fraction should therefore be evaluated as different perfumery materials. Match the desired odor impression to the actual sample before incorporating it into a fragrance blend. The generic product title does not establish patchoulol concentration, Indonesian origin or iron removal, and those attributes cannot be borrowed from a specialist supplier's grade.
