Phytic Acid Functions & Applications

Phytic acid is used as a chelating and pH-adjusting ingredient in cosmetic formulation. Its ability to bind metal ions is relevant when trace metals can affect the stability or appearance of a water-containing product. Producer documentation also explores moisturising applications, but that supporting evidence concerns specific formulated systems. Commercial supplies may contain water, making acid concentration important for calculating an addition and understanding its effect on pH. This listing does not establish a particular solution strength or source. It should remain distinct from phytate salts, whose supplied form and neutralisation state differ. Developers should evaluate metal-control requirements, final pH and compatibility with the chosen ingredients, then verify stability in the complete product.
