Sodium Isostearoyl Lactylate Functions & Applications

Sodium isostearoyl lactylate is an anionic emulsifying and conditioning ingredient made from an isostearic-acid and lactate structure. Manufacturer applications include skin-care emulsions and compatible cleansing products where oil-water interaction and the feel after use need adjustment. The branched isostearoyl group distinguishes it from sodium lauroyl lactylate, so the two lactylates should not be assumed to produce the same texture or foam profile. In an emulsion, it is assessed alongside the principal emulsifier, oil phase and consistency agents. In a cleanser, compatibility with the remaining surfactants is central. The commercial composition should be established before selecting an addition level or transferring processing guidance from a particular supplier grade.
