Sorbitan Palmitate Functions & Applications

Sorbitan palmitate is a nonionic sorbitan ester used for emulsification, emulsion stabilisation and pigment wetting in personal-care products. Manufacturer guidance identifies it as a co-emulsifier in oil-in-water systems and describes a wax-like character useful for adding rigidity to lipophilic compositions. These roles are relevant to creams, colour cosmetics and lip products where interfacial control and structure influence application. The palmitate component distinguishes it from sorbitan esters based on lauric, stearic or oleic acids. Commercial ester distribution and physical form still need confirmation. Choose supporting emulsifiers around the intended oil phase, then assess separation, texture and pigment distribution in the finished product. No reference-brand certification follows from the generic ingredient name.
