Resorcinol Functions & Applications

Resorcinol is a chemical input used in adhesion systems for reinforced rubber products. Manufacturer documentation identifies applications that bond rubber to reinforcing materials such as steel, nylon, polyester, aramid, glass and rayon. These systems are relevant to products including tyres, belts and hoses, where performance depends on the complete adhesive chemistry and processing conditions. Resorcinol is used as a reactive ingredient rather than a ready-to-use adhesive by itself. It is also documented as an input to selected chemical intermediates and additives. The required purity and physical handling specification should follow the manufacturing process. An industrial adhesion application does not establish suitability for a cosmetic or other separately regulated end use.
