Sodium Lactate 60% Functions & Applications

Sodium Lactate 60% is a concentrated aqueous format used to supply sodium lactate to moisture-containing formulations. Manufacturer personal-care examples use the ingredient as a moisturizer, and the lactate system can also contribute to buffering when the formula is designed with suitable acid-base components. Its liquid format allows direct addition to a water phase, but the supplied water must be included in the formulation balance. The 60% designation distinguishes it from unspecified sodium lactate or other concentrations, making assay confirmation important for active-level calculations. Development should assess the salt's effect on texture and compatibility with the other dissolved ingredients. Preservative effectiveness and pH must be established for the finished product rather than inferred from the raw material.
