Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate Functions & Applications

Sodium lauroyl lactylate is a surface-active lactic-acid derivative used in soap, shampoo and facial-cleansing development. Manufacturer technical information describes a semi-liquid reference grade that contributes foam and lather, giving formulators an option for adjusting the cleansing system. Its lauroyl component differentiates it from sodium isostearoyl lactylate, whose branched fatty-acid portion supports a different formulation profile. In a cleanser, sodium lauroyl lactylate is evaluated with the principal surfactants, water phase and texture-building ingredients. It should not be treated as a complete cleansing or preservation system by itself. The supplied physical form and concentration determine the incorporation approach, while trials establish lather quality, product appearance and the desired after-rinse feel.
