Water-dispersible/Microencapsulated Lutein: Overview
Water-dispersible/Microencapsulated Lutein is a formulated carotenoid ingredient designed to improve handling and incorporation into selected food, beverage, and supplement systems. Lutein itself has low water solubility, so water-dispersible grades use specialized carriers or emulsifying systems to distribute lutein in water rather than truly dissolve it. Microencapsulation can also help protect the pigment during processing and storage, depending on the formulation. Performance varies by grade, including dispersibility, particle size, lutein concentration, and stability under light, oxygen, and heat. Manufacturers should test the ingredient in their final application and confirm the excipient list. Reveda offers bulk sourcing of formulated lutein grades.
